Why Let Your Light Shine? Matt 5:16

How cool it is to discover our gifts/talents and abilities. Maybe it happens when you first sing a song, or play that instrument, or maybe you discover your athletic ability in one of the many sports. Oh, and when that happens we find pleasure in doing it. We want to spend more time doing it. We hope to get better and better at it. We long to be better than anyone else who is doing it. Some of us have a greater intelligence than others. Some are born with the ability to draw a crowd with how they speak and lead. Everyone single one of us are born with at least one God-given gift/talent and ability. But why? Why do we have them? I watch sports, and in the sports world there are many who profess to be true believers and disciples of Jesus Christ. But yet, when I watch them on the podium, when the stage is set for them to speak to the world about how good they are, they thank everyone around them and acknowledge how hard they worked, trained. Yet, they leave they neglect to thank and acknowledge the One who created them with that gift/talent and ability, the One who made it all possible. So, are you tellingme that God gifted an individual in order to stage and take all the glory or give all the credit to others? Is that why God gifted him with the ability to excell athletically? Did God really gift us so we could get the most of it and benefit financially and boost our own ego? No, I am not saying that one should not walk in his/her God-given gift/talent and ability, or strive to do their best. It is true, we will enjoy and benefit from walking in them. But, if we are doing it to be the best we can be so we can enjoy it and others can acknowledge it, we are believing a lie. I commened those like Tim Tebow, who let his light shine before men so that when he was given the opportunity, he gave all the glory to His Heavenly Father. His choices were grounded in the Truth! If our choices are going to be grounded in the Truth, we must go to the One True Foundation to discover what the Truth is in the choices we are about to make. Matthew 5:16 tells those of us who have believed on Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, that we are to walk in our in our God-given gifts/talents and abilities so others can see it. But! Not so they will glorify us or our ability, but so they will gloify our Father who is in heaven. Are the Choices you are making 4 your Life Grounded in the Truth?
