Share and live the Gospel

I Corinthians 9:23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may become a fellow partaker of it. The Apostle Paul was talking about doing whatever was necessary for others hearing the gospel (him not getting in the way of the gospel), as long as it did not lead him to sin.
We all have different personalities, different interests, and like to do different things. Some of us are stronger spiritually in certain areas, as well as weaker in other spiritual areas. Yes, Paul was speaking to the Corinthians in what they were challenged with, but God's word is timeless and still alive speaks to us today. Some of us may think, we can't do that or we can't go there, or we can't be around them (keep in mind, we are not talking about walking into an arena, a gathering of sinful behavior that invites us to sin, but about everyday people and places). If we think we can't talk to them, go over there where they are, join them in what they are doing (again, not including sinful behavior), we are wrong. The Holy Spirit lives within a believer, and we have the ability to withstand someone or something we may not enjoy for the sake of being a witness for Christ to them. Paul also said this enables him to be a partaker of the gospel. We partake in the gospel first by allowing God's Word, His Spirit to encourage us in our gifts and abilities, while transforming in us those behavior that need to done away with or need to become more like Christ (sanctification). Secondly, by getting outside of ourselves and seeing others through the eyes of Christ and His word. God did not save us to be who we want to be and do what we want to do. Yes, He gives us enjoyment in doing certain things and hanging our with certain people (which does not include sinful behavior), and that is a great thing! But He also saved us to be a witness for Jesus Christ, so that others may know His love and grace which leads to salvation, which leads to becoming a true and genuine son/daughter of God. the truth of His the power of His Spirit...

Genuine Faith Revealed Through Obedience

Check out I Samuel 12:20-25
verse 24 But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. 25 Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will perish.”
Gotta love the Old Testament. It still speaks to you and me today. The once written...still speaking Word of God,,,
The prophet warned the Israelites about demanding God to give them a king.
God gave them what they wanted. God used Samuel to tell them the consequence of having a human king, instead of God as their King.
Just amazing how God still did not give up on them, despite their foolish choice.
Gods' love, mercy and grace are overwhelming, But as it says in vs 24, as He lavishes His mercy and grace over us, He expects us to fear Him, and to serve Him with all of our heart. If we don't there are consequences.
He is so patient with you me despite our rebellion and disobedience, despite you and me continuing to do things our own way because He loves us so much. God so much wants you and me to trust Him with all of our heart, because He knows what is best for you and me! Psalm 139
Who are we dating?
Who are we hanging out with?
How much do we want to be recognized for how good or smart we are? Or tell other people how good or smart we are?
How are we treating those who we don't know, those that no one talks to?
Are we respecting and obeying our parents?
Are we spending time with God and His word?
Are we trusting in Him in the good times and the bad times?
Let us never stop crying out during our struggles...And never stop praising Him during the good times.
Let us fear God and serve Him with all our heart! the Truth of His the Power of His Spirit..

Where is Your Confidence Grounded?

Self esteem..self-confidence...self-assurance...inner strength...self motivation...probably every one of us has been told to have this in order to succeed in whatever is before you. In this world we live in, the things listed above are the mantra of life in order to achieve and be successful. I must say they are true for those who don't fully understand the concept of life from God's Word. But remember, you and I do not follow the ways of this world/culture (Colossians 2:8). You and I, we have placed our faith and life in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is OK for us to be self-confident?   Read more

Your Stamp of Approval!

There is no way around it, each one of us has this need to be loved, approved, and acknowledged. Whether it is on a team, in the band, the choir, in the hallways and classrooms of school, on the internet, among our peers, or in the family-we experience a need to loved and approved by others. The results can be fulfillment, as well as rejection leading to heartache and pain. Why? Why can't we fully satisfy this overwhelming need to be loved, approved, and acknowledged? Psalm 139:13 "Your formed my inward parts; you wove (knitted) me together in my mother's womb. Over 3,000 years ago, Almighty God, Creator of all things, inspired King David to write Psalm 139, so you and I would know today why we have life, and why we have this need. God tells us that He knitted you and me together. Think about the grandmother, aunt, or mother that you have seen knitting while rocking in her rocking chair. Every time you visited her home she had a piece of fabric in her lap, and a long needle in her hand, stitching and creating patterns. With every stitch and pattern she made, she was thinking about you and what you like, taking the time necessary to create the gift to help meet a need. Read more

Why Let Your Light Shine? Matt 5:16

How cool it is to discover our gifts/talents and abilities. Maybe it happens when you first sing a song, or play that instrument, or maybe you discover your athletic ability in one of the many sports. Oh, and when that happens we find pleasure in doing it. We want to spend more time doing it. We hope to get better and better at it. We long to be better than anyone else who is doing it. Some of us have a greater intelligence than others. Some are born with the ability to draw a crowd with how they speak and lead. Everyone single one of us are born with at least one God-given gift/talent and ability. But why? Why do we have them? I watch sports, and in the sports world there are many who profess to be true believers and disciples of Jesus Christ. But yet, when I watch them on the podium, when the stage is set for them to speak to the world about how good they are, they thank everyone around them and acknowledge how hard they worked, trained. Yet, they leave they neglect to thank and acknowledge the One who created them with that gift/talent and ability, the One who made it all possible. So, are you telling Read more

2 Timothy 2:15 Be Not Ashamed

15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

The world could not free me, my parents could not free me, and even I could not free myself from the chains of addiction.   10 years ago God finally rescued me from the bondage of drug and alcohol addiction. One night I got on my knees, after entering my 21st drug rehab, and cried out for God to either take my life or free me! I did not want to live anymore if I could not be free from addiction.   The next morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise, God literally reached in and removed the bondage of addiction, that had so much destroyed 20 years of my life. Finally, I was free!   Within a couple of years I knew the only reason God spared my life was to be a vessel of truth into the lives of youth.   Soon thereafter, a couple of years later, I realized the Lord was going to use my foolish choices as wisdom for choices youth have yet to make, and to bring hope to those who have already begun to make bad choices. It was as clear as day when the Holy Spirit revealed God's purpose and intention for my life.   Almost 10 years after God truly set me free, His promise is just now beginning to come to fruition. It has taken longer than I thought, longer than I expected. Those who have been on the sidelines since I was set free may have wondered if it ever really was going to come to pass. At times my own thoughts tried to lead me astray from what God was and is calling me to do, and hopelessness tried to have its way with me again.   But God's word tells us to not be ashamed. When God's promises we claimed don't come to pass in the eyes of those looking on, or how we personally think they should come to pass, we should always continue to walk confidently, yet humbly,  has His child, never ashamed of what others may think. We must continue trusting and abiding in Christ, knowing that God will bring to pass what He has promised.   His promise may come to pass in ways we didn't expect, but they will come to pass and we are never to be ashamed and always present ourselves as God's workman, walking out the Truth of His word. The surrounding voices or circumstances should never deter us from walking out His calling in our life!   I am grateful for the opportunity to share testimony on tomorrows radio show The Jesus Well of Salvation with Rachael Titus. God's promise is coming to pass His way, and He is proving Himself as the Promise Fullfiller!   Thank you Father God for proving Yourself to your child once again!

Today was my first opportunity to share my testimony of how God and God alone rescued me from the chains of addiction. I cannot lie, there was a small nip of nervousness as the story was told for the first time. The nervousness stemmed from the excitement of sharing God's unconditional love and His redeeming power through personal testimony. I hope each student who heard the story left with an inspiration to seek God even more, to trust in the Lord with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding while acknowledging Him in all their ways, knowing He will direct their paths. (Prov 3:5-6) For those who have made some bad choices, to cry out to God with all their heart. Plead with God to pour out His conviction while overwhelming you with God's tolerance, patience and kindness that leads to repentance so he or she can settle back into true fellowship with the One has given them life-with the One who wants to be involved in every choice they make. Are You Prepared?

I John 2:15-17

After arriving at Planet Fitness, I headed straight for the lyptical. I stepped on the machine, adjusted the settings and started my stride. While peering up at the multiple televisions on the wall, I slide my ear buds into my ears and plugged them into little box which enabled me to hear and change the channels.

It was a Saturday afternoon and I was hoping to find a decent show to help my 30 minutes of exercise breeze by. I am not much of a TV watcher these days, but I figured at this hour, 2 pm, I could find something decent and without offense.  After landing on what seemed to be an innocent show on a local channel,  it only took 2 minutes before the girl started undressing in front of the boy. -LUST OF THE EYES. Quickly I changed the channel as I asked God to take my thoughts captive and turn them into Christ like thoughts.

The same God who created the heavens and the earth, the amazing mountains and the breathtaking oceans,  the unique creatures and animals in this world, and you and me, want's to be a part of our everyday life. Whether we like it or not, He is at work in our life, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

School is about to start and some may be venturing out to a new school, uncertain of what is to come. The pressures of making new friends, trying to fit in, and being in an unfamiliar environment can be uncomfortable. But God still desires for you to walk as His child. It is true, your emotions will try and get in the way Read more

Opportunities Will Arise

It is a challenge to endure through the hardships of life, whether they are of our own making or not. But, if we do, opportunities to walk in our God-given gifts, for His glory will arise.

As I continue to strive towards more opportunities to speak into the lives of youth, God continues to remove the blemishes of the past (due to my bad choices), as He creates more opportunities for the present. Just a couple of weeks God moved in the hearts of strangers to resolve another unexpected issue from my past battle with drugs,  and just two days ago, God opened a door to speak truth into the lives of scholars at Quail Hollow Freedom School.
